Physiotherapy and athletic therapy
Our physiotherapists and athletic therapist have a lot of experience treating kids of all ages.
However, they specialize in treating kids with orthopedic conditions, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal injuries.
Unfortunately, they do not manage kids with developmental conditions.
The rehabilitation team at One Kids Place in Huntsville does an amazing job for these patients.
Massage therapy
It is not uncommon for parents of very active kids to ask whether or not our massage therapists treat kids as well. The answer is of course!
Active kids place a lot of stress and strain on their growing bodies, and massage therapy certainly can help with keeping their bodies mobile, and help in reducing injuries and orthopedic conditions due to muscle imbalances and tightness.
Usually, for the first massage, we ask that the parent be present in the room so that they know what a treatment session entails, and in general, treatments for kids tend to be shorter in duration.
chiropractic therapy
Although children aren’t seen as commonly by our chiropractors, they certainly can help with the collaborative model of care that we provide at Reactivate.
The difference that our chiropractors would provide a lower velocity of adjustment if an adjustment is required, but a lot of their treatments are spent using soft tissue techniques. Acupuncture is not contraindicated in kids, just we recognize that kids often have a fear of needles. However, for those that are open to acupuncture, the results can be incredible.
Due to the nature of the growing skeletal system, we try to refrain from using shockwave therapy on kids.
Strength and Conditioning
We definitely advocate for kids to be involved in strength and conditioning, with younger ages engaging in muscular and joint control, agility, and coordination. Whereas, as kids age and require more power to move their body and excel at their sports and activities, we start to move more into heavier weights to assist with creating a powerful, balanced, and injury resilient body.
