Kendra Squire
Physiotherapist (Resident)
BA (Hons) Kinesiology specializing in Sport Management, MSC Physiotherapy
Kendra has been an athlete all of her life, competing in gymnastics as she grew up, but more recently has been involved at an elite level in climbing and Spartan racing, and recreationally as a trail runner.
Kendra sustained a complex ankle injury while competing in gymnastics. As she was rehabilitated from this injury, she worked closely with a physiotherapist to regain her strength and stability. During this time, she saw firsthand the impact that physiotherapy could have on an individual’s recovery, inspiring her to pursue a career in physiotherapy. Not only was it the physical rehabilitation, but it was how her physiotherapist helped her build physical and mental confidence to return to the gym.
Her approach to rehabilitation is movement-based, and she always works collaboratively with clients to develop a realistic, sustainable, and progressive treatment plan.
While she tries to keep things light with a joyful and humorous approach to life, she is always present for her clients providing compassionate and patient-centred care. When asked about her treatment approach and philosophy, Kendra says:
I strongly advocate for an inclusive approach in rehabilitation, where patients arevalued as active participants in their recovery. Through collaborative efforts, I strive to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to return to the activities they love.
While she enjoys working with individuals from all walks of life and activity levels, Kendra has a particular interest in working with endurance athletes and climbers. She has a special interest in hand and upper limb rehabilitation, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation to get them ready for surgery and augmenting their recovery afterwards, and she has experience working with Parkinson’s patients to keep them mobile and functionally strong to help them continue leading active lifestyles.
