we are one big family

Our team is made up of a broad range of specialties that provide one of the most comprehensive rehabilitative clinics in Muskoka. We not only work together, we learn together through regular team meetings and clinical rounds so that we all can learn from each other and enrich our knowledge about sport and exercise medicine, and musculoskeletal conditions that affect our clients.

We wholeheartedly believe that movement is medicine.

There is so much about our clinic that we want to share with you. We are working hard to set the new standard of rehabilitative care in Muskoka. One that doesn’t rely on fancy machines being applied to your body to make you feel better, move better, and move more.

Simply put, that means that we don’t rely on passive modalities which often involve fancy machines, gels, pads, lasers, ultrasounds and other short term solutions that might make you feel good for a little while, but don’t do much for you in the long run. They don’t actually address and treat the root of your injury or condition.

Movement has no age limits.

Whether you are 8 or 88, your body has the capability of healing itself if it is coached, stimulated, and treated in a specific way using progressive treatment plans that are centered around carefully selected strength and stability exercises, stretching and range of motion movements, along with treatments that prepare the body’s musculoskeletal tissues to be ready to respond to the exercise-based treatments we will advocate for.

That is why our overarching treatment philosophy is to find the area that is biomechanically not working the way it should, and then adjust, retool, and retrain your body to move properly again.

we work in an amazing state of the art facility

Our large, open concept clinic allows the freedom to move, while set in a comfortable and welcoming cottage decor to help our patients feel at ease when they come for treatments. The overall atmosphere is vibrant and energetic as you can often hear the positive encouragements of our team member, and friendly laughter throughout the clinic. At the core of it all, we want out clients to feel like they are stepping into a place that they are welcomed, relaxed, and feel like they are part of our team and our family. Which at the core of it all, our clients have to be in order to experience the most benefits of their rehabilitative efforts.

if you have a body that moves, you are an athlete.

A common question we often hear is “Well, Reactivate Muskoka is clinic for athletes. I am anything but an athlete”.

Every day we encounter patients who set goals and challenge themselves beyond their perceived boundaries for them. To walk around the block. To plant a new garden. To stay active while undergoing cancer treatments. To make the rep hockey team. To finish a triathlon. To make it to the Olympics.

You must remember that we are not defined by size, shape, speed, or age. We are defined by our love of sport, our need to keep our bodies moving, and the pursuit of our goals, whatever they may be.

Everyone’s goal is different, but there is a common thread with all these people – a lot of hard work, and a sense of pride over their accomplishment.

from one end of the spectrum to the other

When someone gets injured or is affected by a musculoskeletal condition that is changing the way they are functioning on a day to day basis, it is hard to know where to turn for help.

Additionally, it is hard to know which of the many different rehabilitation therapies would best help resolve the issue or injury.

Having a comprehensive team that collaborates together when it comes to patient care means that we are a “one stop shop” for your rehabilitative care.

We work together to ensure that our patients reap the benefits of our collective knowledge about the human body and how it moves.

consultations to clarify the diagnosis

Our sports medicine physicians at Reactivate act as the diagnosticians to clarify a client’s diagnosis. They take the time to talk with our clients and learn about their concerns, to tease out the exact ways in which their lives are affected. Then with an enhanced physical exam they can further hone in on what is going on, and offer treatments or further imaging if required.

At the end of a sports medicine consultation, a more precise diagnosis will be available to our clients.

Our rehabilitative team of physiotherapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and kinesiologists can help formulate a movement based treatment and exercise plan for our clients to engage in.

We collaborate to reactivate our clients

Often there is overlap between physiotherapy, massage therapy, and chiropractic therapy.

This allows for each of these specialty areas to complement one other, thereby augmenting the effect of each individual form of therapy. It gives new meaning to “We are stronger together”.

The cumulative effect of the collaborative treatments will only benefit our clients and their recovery.
