Elyse Stangl

Pilates Instructor

Elyse grew up in Otterville, near Tillsonburg, and fell in love with Pilates after she completed her Honours Bachelor of Humanities in Art History, and headed out into the working world.  She found Pilates after she realized that working a 9 to 5 desk job left her feeling a lot of discomfort in her body.  Through Pilates, she developed strength, improved posture, and improved body awareness.

Over time, her passion for Pilates spilled over into becoming an instructor where she has instructed numerous individuals in groups and in private lessons as they embrace the numerous benefits of Pilates.  Elyse’s passion has even extended beyond this as she now is an instructor and a mentor for aspiring instructors for both mat and reformer Pilates.   She gets a tremendous amount of satisfaction being an instructor and educator, and in her words, it “fills her cup to see how the whole process of teaching teachers unfolds.”

Trying something new is often a point of apprehension for individuals, but she wants to let clients know that everyone starts somewhere, and after as few as 10 sessions they will feel a difference.  She instructs and teaches with a non-judgmental and kind approach; meeting people where they are and challenging them in a safe, fun, and functional way.

She loves guiding people through Pilates from all ages and abilities, as she firmly believes, that, in the words of Joseph Pilates, “You are only as young as your spine is flexible.”
