David Lamy

RMT

A native of Huntsville, David began his career as a registered massage therapist in 1999. After three years of practice, he relocated to Toronto and has worked in clinics, schools and gyms expanding his diverse practice of massage therapy ever since. He is very happy to be returning home with his family and joining the team at Reactivate.

He is extremely accomplished within the field of registered massage therapy as he has spent six years as a massage therapy curriculum developer, instructor and tutor, as well as a bilingual examiner with a College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. In 2017 he received the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment from the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario.

For the past 20 years David has been working in an Orthopaedic and Sports Injury clinic. His focus has been working with people recovering from orthopaedic surgery, sports related injuries, prenatal, and Cancer recovery. He specializes in myofascial release, deep tissue massage, soft tissue release techniques (ART) and both facial and medical scar restrictions. In addition, he also employs a number of non-Swedish massage techniques including manual lymphatic drainage and cupping into his practice increasing the functional range of motion, muscular capacity, and improving the ability for the body to create stable muscular systems.

He is a firm believer in moving the client around during the treatment as this helps facilitate the restoration of functional movement patterns in the body. That being said, he also appreciates the need for the massage to be one in which his clients can lay quietly and restore the mind-body connection through relaxing massage as well.

In his words,

“ I like to work with the client, their interests, and their environment to help them take ownership of their own health with the overarching goal of getting them back to regular physical activity and restoring normal movement patterns in order to prevent future injuries from reoccurring”.

David is a passionate endurance athlete, and has completed a number of half in full Ironman triathlons, as well as half and full marathons, obstacle course races, and multiple racquet sports.

When David is not treating clients or spending time with his family, he’s out training for his own fitness endeavors. He is a certified gravity, TRX, spin, and Pilates instructor as well as a NCCP certified triathlon coach which help him further have the ability to help his clients become re-engaged in physical activity and active and healthy lifestyles beyond the application of his treatments.

With his enthusiasm and positive attitude, he brings a wealth of experience, ideas, empathy, coaching, and clinical knowledge to each of his client encounters and treatments.

“ We have setbacks so we can have comebacks"
